What you see is exactly what you will receive.

Three eyes — but they don't share a face.

One eye sits alone on Face A, centred in an octagonal cream frame with notched sides. Turn the bead to Face C and two eyes appear: open C-ring forms, unframed, sitting directly on the warm brown ground, each with a small dark pupil and each opening in a slightly different direction. One plus two makes three, but the single eye and the pair sit on opposite sides of the stone, and the count only becomes clear once you have seen both.

Faces B and D carry no eyes. Instead they show an arch or crown motif: two arch forms side by side, joined by horizontal bars below, reading as a double doorway or a crown depending on the angle. Each is a complete composition in its own right.

The ground is a deep, warm chocolate-brown, and the cream lines are clean and well defined on all four faces, with strong, even contrast. The end caps are a warm honey-tan (Images 5 and 6), distinct from the dark body — the same caramel-honey tone seen on our Antique Six Eye At-053026-6E and Five Eye At-072625-5E.

At 51.2mm long and 13.0mm wide this is a full, elongated torpedo, generous enough in diameter for the octagonal frame on Face A to read as an architectural element rather than a simple border. Both drill holes are intact and well centred. The surface shows natural weathering and minor digs consistent with its age. No cracks. No bloodspots.

The Three Eye Motif

The Three Eye dzi (三眼天珠) is associated with the Three Stars — 福祿壽 (fú lù shòu) — happiness, prosperity and longevity together: the good fortune that opens the path, the wealth that sustains it, and the long life to enjoy both. It is worn by those who want all three working at once, and often given to mark marriages, milestones and new ventures.

Specifications

Motif: Three Eye (三眼天珠); one framed eye on Face A, two open C-ring eyes on Face C; arch or crown motif on Faces B and D

Length: 51.2mm

Diameter: 13.0mm

Form: Elongated torpedo with honey-tan end caps

Material: Natural agate, deep warm chocolate-brown, with cream motif lines

Age: Antique, estimated 300–500 years

Condition: Excellent; no cracks; natural weathering and minor digs

Bloodspots: None

Product ID: At-053126-3E

Collection: Antique Dzi Beads

You May Also Like

Antique Six Eye Dzi with Honey-Gold End Caps (At-053026-6E)

Antique Five Eye Kubera Dzi, Pitch-Black Agate (At-072625-5E)

Vintage Four Eye Dzi (V-070226-4E)

Antique Two Eye Dzi with Medicine Digs (At-010726-2E3)

Antique Nine Eye Dzi, Amber on Dark Agate (At-012325-9E4)

Further Reading

The Three Eye Dzi Bead: Symbolism and Significance

Real vs Fake Dzi Beads: The Collector's Guide

One eye, then two: happiness, prosperity and long life, split across opposite faces of one stone.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0979/7198/files/20220307_152605_80058583-b3fb-42d0-bf3f-91c0964f5bc7.jpg?v=1788945075
