new-five-eye-motif-taiwan-dzi-bead-091025
Five Eye Motif, 40.5×11.4mm, very dark brown agate (N-091025-5E)

We never retouch our photos. What you see is exactly what you will receive.

This bead splits its five eyes unevenly — two on one face, three on the other — with a wave pattern filling the turn between them.

It is a new Taiwan dzi in natural agate, carrying the Five Eye motif in bold cream-white on a very deep dark brown ground that reads nearly black, with a faint warm undertone where it meets the cream. The rings and dividers are crisp and evenly proportioned.

One face carries two eyes between vertical dividers; the opposite face carries three in a row. Between them runs a continuous wave or zigzag band along the bead. Turned in the hand, it shifts from two eyes to waves to three eyes to waves again.

The form is a standard barrel with rounded, tapered ends. The drill holes (Images 6 and 7) are clean, with the dark body lightening to a warm honey-brown around them. Smooth, well-finished surface; no cracks or chips.

This is a new bead, made in Taiwan within roughly the last 20 years using the traditional dzi crafting technique.

The Five Eye Motif

The Five Eye dzi (五眼天珠) is associated with the blessings of Kubera, deity of wealth and guardian of the north, and is said to bring lasting good fortune, long life and contentment. Five is linked with the five elements and five directions. The wave adds the meaning of flowing, continuous fortune — good luck that is not only attracted but kept in motion.

Specifications

Motif: Five Eye (五眼天珠); two eyes on one face, three on the other, with wave bands between

Length: 40.5mm

Diameter: 11.4mm

Form: Barrel with rounded, tapered ends

Material: Agate, very deep dark brown with honey-brown tips

Age: New, made in Taiwan within roughly the last 20 years using the traditional dzi crafting technique

Condition: No cracks or chips

Bloodspots: None

Product ID: N-091025-5E

Collection: New Dzi Beads | Taiwan Dzi

You May Also Like

New Five Eye Dzi, Companion Piece (N-091125-5E2)

New Five Eye Dzi with Honey Agate Ends (N-090626-5E2)

Antique Five Eye Kubera Dzi (At-072625-5E)

Further Reading

The Five Eye Dzi Bead: Symbolism and Significance

How to Choose a Dzi Bead: Buying Guide

Six unretouched photographs: the two-eye face, three-eye face, wave rotations and two angled views of the drill ends.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0979/7198/files/NewTaiwaneseDziBeadfeaturingtheFiveEyeMotif_1_08500fdc-85de-4f37-a392-5ea66ce30f24.jpg?v=1789067620
