From the side there are no waves at all — only a very dark brown field with a cream arc cutting across it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a vintage round dzi from 1980s Taiwan in natural agate: a very deep dark brown ground with warm ivory-cream double wave banding. The brown is as dark as this agate gets — nearly black in some light, so dense it absorbs light — and the cream cuts across it with luminous contrast.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe double wave wraps the whole bead. From the main face it reads as two bands: an upper band whose lower edge forms two arched humps, and a heavier double sweep below. Turn the bead toward the drill axis and the waves dissolve into flowing diagonal arcs; from the drill end only a cream arc in a dark field remains. One motif, many readings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe form is a compact ovoid, slightly taller than wide and smoothly rounded. The cream areas show fine natural micro-crackle and slight staining from some forty years of age, while the dark areas keep a deep gloss. The drill hole is clean. No cracks or chips.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a vintage bead, made in Taiwan in the 1980s using the traditional dzi crafting technique.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eThe Double Wave Motif\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe double wave, also read as double tiger tooth, is a classic dzi motif associated with protection and warding off negative energy.
