What you see is exactly what you will receive.

On a round bead the treasure vase has no fixed position. Hold these beads by the drill axis and the vase reads clearly — neck and rim rising toward the drill hole, the swelling body below, scrollwork curling out from the sides. Turn either bead a quarter and the design dissolves into abstract curves before the next face brings the vase back. Every angle shows a different part of the same motif.

The two beads share the motif, the 1980s Taiwan origin and a dark brown ground, but differ in tone. The left bead is a deep, even chocolate-brown with bright, cool cream-white lines and strong contrast. The right bead's dark areas lean warmer and slightly reddish, and its lines read as a warmer cream. The small difference only makes the pairing stronger.

The vase wraps the full circumference of each bead, its complete form — neck, rim, body, base and scrollwork — clear from the main face, with the scrollwork taking over from the other side. Both drill holes on each bead are small and clean. No cracks or chips.

These are vintage beads, made in Taiwan in the 1980s using the traditional dzi crafting technique.

The Treasure Vase Motif

The treasure vase (寶瓶, bumpa) is one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Tibetan Buddhism. On dzi it represents inexhaustible wealth, abundance and the fulfilment of wishes — a vessel holding prosperity, health, long life and spiritual attainment that never empties, however much is drawn from it. On a round bead the vase wraps the whole sphere, its abundance reaching in every direction.

Specifications

Motif: Treasure Vase (寶瓶); full vase with neck, rim, body, base and flanking scrollwork wrapping each bead

Size: 20.1mm × 19.0mm (left) / 20.5mm × 18.5mm (right)

Form: Round beads, pair

Material: Agate, dark chocolate-brown and warm reddish-brown

Age: Vintage, 1980s Taiwan, made using the traditional dzi crafting technique

Condition: Good; no cracks or chips; high-gloss surface

Bloodspots: None

Product ID: V-073026-TVP2

Collection: Taiwan Dzi | Round Beads | Pairs and Sets

You May Also Like

Vintage Round Treasure Vase Dzi Pair (V-052526-TVP)

Vintage Round Treasure Vase Dzi Pair (V-071426-TVV)

Vintage Round Double Wave Dzi Pair (V-071426-DWP3)

Antique Round Four Eye, Lotus and Treasure Vase Dzi (At-080926-4ELT)

Antique Two Eye and Treasure Vase Dzi (At-062226-2ETV2)

Antique Two Eye Treasure Vase Dzi, Chalcedony (At-061826-2ETV)

Ancient Round Treasure Vase Dzi (Ac-011824-TVR)

Further Reading

Taiwan Dzi Beads: The Vintage 1980s Guide

Dzi Bead Motifs and Their Meanings

Six unretouched photographs; colour and surface detail are exactly as shown.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0979/7198/files/Vintage_Pair_of_Round_Treasure_Vase_dzi_beads_2.jpg?v=1788944138
https://www.ancientdzishop.com/zh-tw/products/vintage-round-treasure-vase-dzi-pair-dark-brown-v-073026-tvp2
