Count the stripes at either end of this bead and there are three, not two, a small structural detail that sets it apart from the double-bar ends seen on most Two Eye beads in this collection.

This is a vintage dzi bead crafted in Taiwan in the 1980s using the traditional dzi crafting technique, the same method of etching natural agate used for ancient dzi. The ground is two-tone, brown moving to a notably darker, deeper brown through parts of the piece, as the white-background rotation photos show. The cream-white eye ring and stripe bands hold strong, even contrast against it.

The bead is a classic barrel, drilled through the centre. The single eye sits centred within a partial ring, flanked on both sides by the triple-bar stripe groups that define this piece. Turning the bead reveals a second face where the connecting line breaks from the striped pattern, tracing a stepped, right-angled path with no eye in view. The warm brown translucent gloss at the drilled end shows the natural agate.

No cracks are visible anywhere on this bead. The surface is clean throughout, with no bloodspots.
