We never retouch our photos. What you see is exactly what you will receive.
Seven eye dzi beads carry the full count on two faces — but not always the same way. On most seven eye beads the eyes are distributed evenly across both eye faces. On this bead they are not: three eyes occupy one face, four occupy the opposite face, and the count only completes when you hold both faces in mind at once. The asymmetry is deliberate and rare. The wave faces that fill the remaining two sides add a further layer — horizontal cream lines running in stacked rows across each face, with the wave rhythm shifting between the two sides. No two faces on this bead present the same composition.
The ground colour shows two distinct zones across the bead. The central body reads as a very deep dark brown, approaching its darkest in the zones between the motif lines. The end caps are warmer — a rich, distinctly brown tone that lightens relative to the body and is clearly visible in the angled photographs. This two-zone character is confirmed across all four white-background lateral shots and both angled end views.
The eye faces are framed by horizontal cream borders — a wavy upper boundary line on the three-eye face, a wavy lower boundary line on the four-eye face — so that each eye panel sits within a defined cream-bordered zone. The eyes themselves are cleanly formed: circular cream-white rings with a dark brown centre point, consistent in size and well-spaced across each face. The wave faces carry stacked horizontal wavy lines filling the full face from the outer vertical stripe to the opposite stripe, with the wave amplitude varying between the two faces.
Surface condition is excellent for a bead of this age. The motif lines are intact and reading cleanly. No chips or cracks are present. The drill holes at both ends are small and clean, with no chipping at the rim. Minor age-consistent surface texture is present across the body — fine, even, and without any structural compromise.
A UV test photograph is included (image 7). Under ultraviolet light, the bead's surface shows an even, age-consistent matte response with no fluorescence in the ground zones. This is the expected result for genuine ancient agate and is inconsistent with modern synthetic materials or resin coatings. The UV test is provided as an additional authentication reference.
The Seven Eye Motif
The seven eye dzi (七眼天珠) is one of the most revered counts in the Tibetan dzi tradition. Seven is considered a number of great spiritual completeness — associated in Tibetan Buddhist cosmology with the seven aspects of enlightenment (七覺支, the seven factors of awakening). A seven eye bead is traditionally understood to invite fortune, eliminate obstacles, and bring the wearer into alignment with these seven awakening qualities. The rare 3+4 variant arrangement — where the eye count is divided asymmetrically across two faces rather than split evenly — is encountered far less frequently than the standard layout and is considered by collectors and practitioners alike to represent a distinct expression of the motif.
