On most dzi the ground is what you see first. On this one, the cream comes first — and the dark lines are what carve the motif out of it.

This new four-eye variant dzi is the most cream-dominant piece in the four-eye variant family offered this season. The almond-form eyes — pointed-oval, leaf-shaped, dark pupils set within broad cream surrounds — sit within wide cream fields that take up the larger share of each primary face. The dark brown-black ground is present as relatively narrow dividing lines between the cream zones rather than as a dominant field. At first glance this bead reads as a cream bead with dark markings; the proportion is genuinely reversed from the darker pieces in this series.

The 90-degree turn faces present the bracket-form cream line pattern characteristic of all four-eye variant pieces in this family — two stepped horizontal cream bands, the almond eye compositions fully absent from these angles. Four genuinely distinct views across a full rotation, the cream-dominant character consistent across all of them.

At 57.6mm this is a full-length barrel, near-identical in length to its companion pieces, with a slightly narrower diameter at 13.4mm. The fusiform profile tapers evenly to both ends, which carry the same warm honey-brown tone as the other pieces in this series — a natural agate colour shift from the darker central body, producing a quiet two-zone palette across the bead's length. The surface carries a smooth, settled gloss. No cracks are present; confirmed independently from photos. No flaws requiring disclosure are visible in the six unretouched images.

The Four Eye Variant Motif

The four-eye variant follows the symbolic tradition of the four-eye dzi, associated with protection across all four directions and the aspiration toward complete awareness in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. The almond or leaf form of the eyes in this family is understood as a stylistically distinct rendering of the classic motif — more organic in line, less formalised in construction — and lends each piece in this series a visual character that sets it apart from the standard concentric-ring four-eye dzi.
