Nine circles run the length of this bead, each one boxed in by a stepped cream line that never quite repeats the same turn twice — count them from one end to the other and the path between eyes is never the same shape.

This is a newly crafted Taiwan dzi, made within roughly the last twenty years, finished in high-quality natural agate. The ground colour is a very deep dark brown that reads almost black in places but is not true black — the brown character is visible even under flat white-background lighting, with subtle depth and translucency at the banding that confirms agate rather than carnelian. The nine eye motif is etched in clean, consistent cream-white, with the stepped connecting lines giving the piece a more graphic, geometric rhythm than the rounder eye patterns seen on older pieces.

Surface finish is smooth and well-polished from end to end, with a continuous high gloss across both the dark ground and the raised motif lines. The drill channel is centered and clean at both ends, consistent with standard contemporary drilling — no enlarged or "keyhole" boring on this piece. No cracks, chips, or surface damage are visible in any of the photos; the bead presents in excellent ready-to-wear condition.
