The single eye at the centre of this bead sits alone between two sets of plain stripes — but turn the bead, and two more eyes appear on the reverse, framed by a scalloped wave line that the first face never hints at.

This is a newly crafted dzi bead, made in Taiwan. The ground is a true black, confirmed under flat white-background lighting and consistent across the full length of the piece. Against that black, the cream-white striping and eye rings are crisp and high-contrast, with a faint natural grey-blue banding visible within some of the cream zones — a marker of the agate's natural structure rather than any applied colour.

The bead is a classic barrel form, drilled through the centre. One face presents a single centred eye flanked by plain vertical stripes; the opposite face carries two eyes joined by a continuous scalloped wave line that runs the width of the bead. The composition changes considerably depending on which face is turned toward the viewer, so the piece rewards handling and rotation rather than a single front-facing view. The high gloss finish and cream-white tone visible at the drilled ends both support natural agate as the material.
