On each of these beads, the three eyes don't share a face — and the one you see first is not the largest.

The front face of each bead is dominated by a single large eye: a wide sandy-cream outer ring enclosing a deep chocolate-brown zone, with a smaller cream inner ring at the centre and a dark brown pupil at its core. The construction is concentric and deliberate — ring within ring, the eye resolving inward to a single point. The ground surrounding each eye is the same warm sandy-cream as the outer ring itself, so the dark zones read as markings within a cream field rather than cream lines on a dark ground. This is the inverse of most dzi eye constructions, and it gives these beads a quieter, more diffuse presence than a black-ground piece would.

The remaining two eyes sit on the lateral and lower faces — visible in Images 3 and 4. They are smaller than the front eye, proportionally suited to the curved surfaces they occupy, and carry the same concentric ring construction in miniature. Image 3 shows the drilling end view: two warm rust-orange drill hole interiors visible, consistent with the agate's interior colouring. Image 4 shows the side faces laid flat — the two smaller eyes clearly present, flanking the drill hole end on each bead.

The surface texture on both beads is matte and slightly granular throughout, consistent with the faux-antique finish applied during manufacture. The cream zones have a fine, slightly rough surface character; the dark brown zones are marginally smoother. Both beads show the same surface character — no gloss, no cracking, no chips visible in any of the three photographs.

The two beads are closely matched in form: both are compact barrel-oval shapes, wider at the centre and tapering toward each end, with the proportions sitting between a true barrel and a bicone. Bead A at 23.8×14.0mm is very slightly longer; Bead B at 23.2×14.4mm is very slightly wider. The difference is minor but visible when the two are placed side by side.

This is not a genuine antique or ancient bead, though it now carries over two decades of its own age.

The Three Eye Motif

The Three Eye dzi (三眼天珠, sān yǎn tiānzhū) is among the most widely recognised of all dzi motifs, associated in Tibetan Buddhist tradition with Kubera — the deity of wealth — and with the three aspects of luck: health, wealth, and longevity. Three is a number of completion across many Asian symbolic traditions, and a bead carrying three eyes is understood as a statement of that completeness: no element of fortune left unaddressed. The three eyes distributed across the bead's full circumference mean the motif is always active regardless of orientation — there is no face that faces away.
