Vintage 1980s Taiwan Ruyi Dzi Bead Bracelet with Bloodspots & Black Agate (V-053026-RYB)

Few pieces carry the quiet authority of a genuine vintage Ruyi dzi bead made in Taiwan during the 1980s — and this bracelet is built around one of the finest examples we have handled. The focal bead measures 30.7 mm × 11.3 mm, a substantial, barrel-shaped agate that has aged into a deep ebony ground beneath flowing, cloud-white Ruyi motifs. What sets it apart is a scattering of natural iron-oxide bloodspots — warm amber flecks that collectors prize as proof of authentic, untreated stone.

The Ruyi (如意) motif, meaning "as you wish," has signified fulfilment and good fortune across Chinese and Tibetan cultural traditions for centuries. On this bead the pattern reads clearly from every angle: two interlocking curved forms separated by a deep black inclusion that acts as a dramatic contrast element. The surface carries the soft, matte warmth that only decades of gentle handling can produce — what connoisseurs call skin or 皮殼.

Flanking the dzi are high-quality black agate rounds of a closely matched deep black, polished to a mirror finish.
