The four eyes on this bead are not circles — they are leaves.

Instead of round concentric rings, this four eye carries almond-shaped eyes: elongated ovals with pointed ends, in pairs on each of the two eye faces, each pair framed by cream lines with a U-shaped arch beneath. The side faces between them show a clean double-bar structure with bracket connectors, geometric and spare against the warm brown ground. Four faces, four distinct readings, none repeated.

The ground is a warm, medium chocolate-brown, lightening to honey at both glossy ends. The cream lines are bold and high-contrast. The surface is high-gloss throughout, and the bead is a full fusiform at 57.7mm, wide through the centre with a round, substantial cross-section.

The almond eye is a less common variant within the four eye tradition, giving the bead a softer, more organic feel while keeping the same meaning.

This is a new bead, made within roughly the last 20 years using the traditional dzi crafting technique. No cracks, chips or bloodspots are visible.

The Four Eye Motif

The Four Eye dzi (四眼天珠) is one of the foundational eye forms. Its four eyes are associated with the four directions and the four immeasurables — loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity. It is worn for protection in every direction and to support those boundless qualities, and is also linked with the four enlightened activities of pacifying, enriching, magnetising and subjugating.
