New Nine-Eye Dzi Bead — Dark Grey Brown Agate 58.5 mm (N-101026-9E)
We never retouch our photos. What you see is exactly what you will receive.
Nine eyes distribute themselves across this bead's two long faces in the traditional arrangement of the nine-eye dzi — a composition that has remained consistent across the dzi tradition for centuries. Each eye is clearly defined: a cream-tan ring encircling a dark agate center, the ring itself sitting against the deep charcoal-grey ground of the bead body. The S-curve maze-line network connecting the eyes runs continuously across both faces, linking the eyes into a single unified composition rather than leaving them as isolated elements. The maze lines maintain consistent weight throughout and meet the eye rings cleanly at their junctions.
The agate ground is deep charcoal-grey with a warm brown undertone — a dark, rich base that gives the cream-tan motif strong visual contrast without the absolute pitch-black of some dzi grounds. The coloring is unified across the full body, with no patchiness or variation between faces. Both end cap zones carry horizontal band lines transitioning the decorated body to the bead's tips. The drill holes are small and well-centered at both ends.
The form is a classic elongated barrel — 58.5 mm long and 13.1 mm at its widest point — a generous size that gives the full nine-eye composition space to breathe across the surface. At 58.5 mm this bead sits at the longer end of the standard nine-eye range, making it a prominent piece when strung.
The Nine-Eye Dzi (གཟི།)
Nine is among the most powerful numbers in Tibetan Buddhist cosmology. A nine-eye dzi is traditionally associated with the nine planets, the accumulation of merit across nine realms, and the clearing of obstacles in all directions. Tibetans understand the nine-eye dzi as one of the most potent of all dzi types — a bead that attracts wealth, protects the wearer from negative forces, and draws good fortune across every dimension of life. High lamas have historically worn or kept nine-eye dzi as objects of deep spiritual regard.
