Bracelet with Antique Tibetan Green Tara Dzi Bead, Black Agate & Red Amber | Bloodspots
This is not a spiritual jewelry piece assembled from decorative components. Every element in this bracelet was chosen with intention — and the intention begins with the bead at its center.
The Focal Bead: Antique Green Tara Dzi with Bloodspots
The centerpiece of this bracelet is a genuine antique Tibetan Green Tara Dzi Bead, estimated at over 200 years old, measuring 37.3mm × 11.7mm. It carries natural cinnabar bloodspot specks distributed across the agate field, and warm amber striations running through the white zones — the geological banding of the stone itself, unchanged since it formed in the earth centuries ago.
Green Tara — known in Tibetan as སྒྲོལ་མ་ (Sgrol-ma), she who liberates — is among the most widely venerated figures in Tibetan Buddhism. She is the swift protectress, the mother of all Buddhas, the bodhisattva who acts without hesitation the moment she is called upon. Her name means she who ferries across — carrying beings over suffering, fear, and obstruction to the shore of liberation.
The Green Tara Dzi carries her energy in concentrated physical form. This bead is believed to bring:
- Swift and decisive protection — Tara acts immediately; danger is addressed before it fully arrives
- Liberation from the eight fears — lions, elephants, fire, snakes, thieves, water, imprisonment, and evil spirits
- Obstacle removal — what blocks your path dissolves in her presence
- Success in all endeavors — her active, forward-moving energy supports completion and achievement
- New beginnings and growth — Green Tara is associated with spring, fertility, and things coming into being
The Bloodspots: Natural Cinnabar Inclusions
The natural cinnabar bloodspot specks on the focal bead are visible in the macro photograph above — scattered across the white agate field and concentrated within the motif itself. Known in Chinese as 硃砂 (Zhūshā), these inclusions form when mercury and sulfur are present during the agate's geological formation, producing mercuric sulfide — cinnabar — embedded permanently in the stone. In its purest form cinnabar is the same mineral used to produce vermilion, one of the most sacred pigments in Buddhist art. In Tibetan collecting tradition, bloodspot inclusions are considered highly auspicious — signs of a bead with exceptional vitality and accumulated spiritual energy.
The Complement Beads: Black Agate and Red Amber
The supporting beads in this bracelet were chosen to honor — not compete with — the focal dzi.
The 13 black agate rounds at 10.5mm are deep, polished, and grounding. Black agate is associated with protection, strength, and the absorption of negative energy. In the context of a Green Tara bracelet, black agate reinforces Tara's protective function — surrounding her swift energy with a steady, unwavering guard.
The 2 red amber rounds at 7.5mm are positioned symmetrically on either side of the dzi as accent beads. Their deep garnet-red glow catches the light and provides a visual bridge between the dark agate and the warm ivory and amber tones of the Tara bead itself. Amber carries its own long history in Tibetan amulet tradition — prized for warmth, life force, and purification.
Silver spacer discs frame the dzi bead at both ends, providing a clean visual transition between the ancient focal piece and the supporting beads.
The Bracelet as a Complete Object
Most dzi bracelets on the market are assembled to look good. This one was assembled to work as a unified spiritual object — where every component reinforces the intention of the piece. The result is a bracelet that functions as wearable protection, a daily practice anchor, and a serious collector's item simultaneously.
It is equally at home on a wrist in a boardroom, a meditation cushion, or a collector's display.
