Size changes everything about how a dzi presents itself. The other two eye Qing Dynasty bead in this collection — At-0426-2EQ — measures 60.6mm: long, slender, the eye motif distributed across an elegant torpedo form. This bead is 34.0mm. Nearly half the length. The eye does not distribute — it fills. On this compact, rounded body, the spiral eye takes up almost the entire face, pulling the viewer in from close range with an immediacy the longer bead does not have. Same motif. Completely different relationship between wearer and object.

The spiral eye here is the same open, inward-winding form characteristic of Qing Dynasty Chinese dzi — not a closed concentric ring, but a line that spirals from the outer field down toward an open centre. On a bead this compact, the spiral reads as large, bold, and close. The second eye sits on the adjacent face, slightly smaller in proportion, with a small drill hole visible at the upper tip of the dark ground — a natural feature of this particular stone's surface. Both eyes carry the cream-white granular speckle texture across their fields that has now become a consistent signature across the Qing Dynasty pieces in this collection: the mineral micro-deposit pattern that develops in the etched zones over the course of centuries and is one of the most reliable markers of genuine age.

The bead measures 34.0mm × 12.7mm in high-quality natural agate. The ground is a deep, near-black dark brown — rich and fully saturated, giving the cream eye and stripe zones exceptional contrast. Both rounded tips have the warm brown-grey cap tone seen across the Qing group, both drill holes small, clean, and intact, visible clearly in Images 3 and 4.
