Every other bead in this group reads as dark brown or black. This one reads as warm.

This antique Tibetan three-eye dzi carries the same 1+2 eye distribution as its companions — one eye centred on the primary face, two eyes placed side by side on the opposing face — but the colour character is entirely its own. The ground is a rich dark brown with a reddish undertone that runs through the whole body, giving the bead a warmth that sets it apart from every other piece in this session's antique group. The cream zones respond in kind, carrying a deep peach-warm tone rather than cool cream-white. In certain light the reddish cast deepens; in flat lighting it settles into a warm dark brown. It reads differently at every angle, and always warmly.

The eye constructions follow the same precise concentric ring format as the companion three-eye pieces — dark pupil, warm cream iris, hexagonal outer boundary on the single-eye face, close-paired rings on the two-eye face. The 90-degree turn faces present stacked stepped cream arc compositions, the eye structure disappearing entirely until the bead is rotated back to the primary views. Four genuinely distinct compositions across a full rotation, all documented in the six unretouched photos.

At 50.8mm this is the longest of the three antique three-eye pieces in this group, and the most tonally distinctive. The drill end caps carry the same warm dark brown as the body, the surface has a smooth well-settled patina consistent with its estimated 200–400 years, and some fine surface texture is visible in the cream zones under close inspection — characteristic of aged etching on agate. No cracks are present; confirmed independently from photos.

The Three Eye Motif

The three-eye dzi is one of the most significant and sought-after motifs in the Tibetan bead tradition, associated with the wealth deity Kubera and the three streams of prosperity — material abundance, spiritual merit, and the fulfilment of wishes. Carried for centuries by Tibetan traders, nobles, and practitioners as a talisman of fortune, protection, and the opening of opportunity, the three-eye dzi remains among the most immediately recognisable and revered of all dzi forms.
