This is a genuine vintage dzi bead, hand-carved and etched in Taiwan during the 1980s — real age, even if it sits outside the antique and ancient tiers elsewhere in this collection. The ground here is confirmed black from these flat-lit white-background photos, a true black rather than a deep brown that only reads dark in photos. Against that black, the cream lines sit in high contrast, tracing both the eye motifs and the connecting curved bands that link them around the bead's circumference.
