Modern Reproduction Antique-style Seven Eye Motif Dzi Bead (A5)
Modern
We never retouch our photos. What you see is exactly what you will receive.
This bead is vintage, not antique. Crafted before the year 2000 with a deliberate antique-style finish, it has since picked up over two decades of its own genuine age — and we want that distinction clear from the first line.
This is the first Seven Eye piece in our vintage reproduction line, sharing its construction logic with our existing Nine Eye family (same era, same maker's hand, same antique-style finishing technique) while carrying its own distinct motif and palette. The composition runs two large cream-white ring eyes per lateral face, each eye showing a soft pale blue-grey shadow at its inner edge, with small crescent-dot elements set between the main eyes and vertical stripe dividers framing each face.
The ground colour, confirmed across multiple flat-lit, white-background photographs, reads as a warm dark brown — distinctly warmer than the black-to-olive register that runs through our Nine Eye family. This warmth holds consistently across both lateral faces and across more than one lighting pass in this photo set, so it isn't a lighting artifact; it's the actual tone of this piece. The motif itself is rendered in bright cream-white, with the faint blue-grey inner shadowing inside the ring eyes adding a second, more subdued tone to an otherwise high-contrast composition.
Both end caps are intact and present a clean, round drill opening with no irregularity at either tip. The cap tones run warm honey-amber to tan at both ends, confirmed in the angled detail photographs — a softer, more golden cap colour than the rust-orange to amber-gold caps seen on several pieces in the Nine Eye line.
We're disclosing all of this the same way we disclose the bead's overall age category: directly. This is not a centuries-old antique dzi. It was made with that visual tradition in mind, sometime before 2000, and what you're buying today is a piece that has now genuinely aged for twenty-plus years past its original finishing — different from both a brand-new reproduction and from a verified antique with documented centuries of provenance.
In terms of form, the bead is an elongated barrel with smoothly rounded shoulders, tapering gently at both drilled ends. Surface gloss is even and consistent across both lateral faces, with no cracks, chips, or medicine digs visible at any angle. No bloodspot inclusions are visible anywhere in this photo set.
The Seven Eye Motif
In Tibetan dzi tradition, the Seven Eye motif is associated with the gathering of perfection across the major domains of a person's life — fate, reputation, career, fortune, health, longevity, and marriage are all traditionally named among the qualities the motif is believed to draw together. As with other eye-count dzi, the number itself carries the weight of the meaning: seven distinct blessings, held in a single continuous design.
