The two eyes on this bead are not identical. On one face the eye curls inward in a spiral, the inner line turning rather than closing, giving it a swirling, coiled look. On the opposite face the second eye is composed and calm: a clean outer ring, a clear inner ring and a steady dark pupil. The same motif, held differently on each face.

This is the companion to Ac-073026-2E: same age, same material, same two eye motif and pitch-black ground, with the same aged surface. They differ in detail. Its companion has matching tan end caps; this bead's ends differ — a warm medium brown at one tip and a cooler cream-beige at the other. The connecting faces carry the same bold cream zigzag lines, but here the cream is heavier, with wider white zones against the black.

The pitch-black body shares its companion's fine granular, matte age texture. Both drill holes are small and clean.

The Two Eye Motif

The Two Eye dzi (二眼天珠) is one of the most fundamental forms in the Tibetan tradition. Its two eyes are often understood as wisdom and compassion, the paired qualities through which the awakened mind sees and responds to the world. It is associated with balance, harmonious relationships and protection across inner and outer life.
