Each of the three diamond eyes on this bead is surrounded by its own set of tiger tooth radiants — and the composition never reads the same way twice.

The three diamond eye & tiger tooth motif is one of the most geometrically dense combinations in the Tibetan dzi tradition. Each diamond eye — a white-cream rhombus with a rounded dark centre dot — is framed at all four corners by elongated triangular tiger tooth forms that point outward into the pitch-black ground. Three such compositions sit across the barrel, and because each diamond eye carries its own complete radiant frame, the total field of cream elements is large and interlocking. Rotate the bead and the configuration of visible diamond eyes and tiger tooth clusters shifts: one face shows all three diamonds in partial or full view, another resolves into a single dominant central eye with its four corner radiants spread wide, a third gives a different weighting entirely. The motif is designed for a bead that moves.

Under macro, the cream zones reveal the stone's own character — warm honey-toned agate banding runs diagonally through the diamond fields and tiger tooth triangles, visible as fine golden lines within the etching. This natural banding, internal to the agate itself, is a direct authentication marker: it runs continuously through both the etched cream zones and the dark body, exactly as natural agate banding does, and it cannot be replicated by surface treatment. The cream zones also show age-consistent granular surface texture — mineral alteration over two to three centuries documented as a positive age signal.

The ground is pitch-black agate, confirmed from flat-lit white-background photos, with warm dark brown at both drill-end caps — the stone's own internal colour at the tips, consistent with the agate's natural banding structure. The surface is high-gloss throughout. No cracks and no chips are visible in any photo. I independently confirm both.

No bloodspot inclusions are visible. The warm tones in the macro shots are natural agate banding, not cinnabar.

The Three Diamond Eye & Tiger Tooth Motif

The diamond eye dzi carries a variant of the classic eye motif — the diamond or rhombus form of the eye frame is associated with heightened awareness, precision of perception, and the diamond-like indestructibility of awakened mind (vajra). In Tibetan Buddhist symbolism, the diamond (vajra) represents the unchangeable nature of reality and the indestructible clarity of enlightened consciousness. The tiger tooth (虎牙/達索) surrounding each diamond eye adds the protection and strength of the tiger — active, outward-facing power that guards the eye's awareness against negative forces. Three diamond eyes extend this combined protection and awareness across three aspects of experience: body, speech, and mind. The result is a bead understood to protect all three of these dimensions simultaneously while pointing toward the indestructible clarity that underlies them.
