New Natural Banded Agate Dzi (Nat-CS-1)

One end of this bead does not look like the other — and the agate itself drew that line, not a tool.

Most of this bead's length is given over to broad, confident bands: deep chocolate-brown and near-black alternating with pale icy-grey and warm honey-tan, each stripe wide enough to read clearly from across a room. But travel to one tip and the rhythm changes. The bands narrow, multiply, and compress into a tight cluster of concentric rings — agate doing what agate does when its growth slows and curls in on itself near a termination point. No human hand carved that transition. It is the stone's own geological signature, visible at the moment you'd expect a craftsman's mark and finding none.

This is the first listing in a new sub-line we're calling Cigar Shape (CS) — elongated, gently tapered barrel forms with naturally banded agate bodies and no applied or symbolic motif. Where the Bow-Shaped family curves, the Cigar Shape family runs straight: a long, cylindrical silhouette that narrows gradually toward both ends, with a slightly flattened cross-section rather than a true round barrel. Expect more pieces in this family as they're photographed and processed.

The banding itself is the entire composition. Reading the bead end to end, the bands shift in width and tone — some sharp-edged and high-contrast, others softening into a hazy boundary where brown bleeds into grey before resolving into the next dark stripe. Fine internal texture is visible within several of the lighter bands under close inspection: a faint fibrous sparkle characteristic of natural agate's crystalline structure, not a surface flaw.

Both ends are drilled with a single, central perforation. The compressed-ring end shows its drill hole set within that dense natural banding, slightly irregular at the rim in a way consistent with hand-finishing rather than damage. The opposite end's hole is cleaner-edged. Neither shows chipping, cracking, or wear beyond what's visible in the photographs — surface is glossy throughout, with no medicine digs or reworking evident.

No bloodspots are visible in any photograph of this piece.
