New Twelve Eye Motif Dzi Bead With Bloodspots (N-062126-12E-1)

📷 We never retouch our photos. What you see is exactly what you will receive.

You don't need a loupe to see the bloodspots on this one — they're visible in the ground itself, scattered as fine reddish-brown flecks even at standard photographic distance.

This is the first bead in a new Twelve Eye series, and it sets a high bar for visibility: twelve closed ring eyes run the bead's length, each pair divided by a vertical bar segment, rendered in the same cool, pale blue-grey-white seen on this session's Double Heaven & Earth piece — set against a dark brown ground that carries reddish speckling threaded throughout, plainly visible without magnification in multiple standard photographs. The form is an elongated barrel, tapering gently toward both ends.

Macro photography confirms genuine cinnabar inclusions across two distinct background zones within a single frame: a warm golden-brown granular region and a brighter white-blue zone, with red-orange dot clusters appearing in both. The clusters here run smaller and more dispersed than the dense blooms documented on this session's Heaven & Earth piece — a genuinely different dual-zone character despite the shared two-toned structure. The macro frame also shows a fine, fibrous white structure catching the light in the brighter zone, distinct in texture from the cinnabar clusters and consistent with a natural crystalline vein within the agate rather than a bloodspot inclusion.

Both ends are drilled with a single, clean opening; no chipping or cracking is visible in any of the photographs provided. Surface is glossy and consistent across all visible faces.

The Twelve Eye Motif

In Tibetan dzi tradition, the Twelve Eye motif is associated with authority, power, and influence — the number twelve carrying particular weight across Chinese symbolic tradition, from the twelve ornaments of an emperor's robe to the twelve months governing the solar and lunar calendars. A bead carrying twelve eyes is read as a concentrated statement of these themes, multiplying the protective and watchful associations of the single eye motif across its full length.

Bloodspots — Confirmed (Tier 3)

Cinnabar (硃砂, zhūshā — mercuric sulfide) on this bead is unusually accessible: fine reddish-brown speckling is visible across the dark ground even without magnification, a more surface-prominent presentation than this session's other bloodspot pieces. Macro documentation confirms the inclusions in detail, showing red-orange dot clusters distributed across two distinct background zones within the same frame — golden-brown and bright white-blue — qualifying as a compound dual-zone presentation, though the clusters here are notably smaller and more dispersed than the dense blooms seen elsewhere in this session. A separate fine crystalline structure is also visible in the macro frame, distinguishable from the cinnabar by its fibrous white texture.
