New Twelve Eye Motif Dzi Bead With Bloodspots (N-062126-12E-2)
📷 We never retouch our photos. What you see is exactly what you will receive.
The second bead in this Twelve Eye series shares its sibling's bones — twelve eyes, the same cool blue-grey motif colour, the same speckled dark ground — but the bloodspots tell a sparser story here.
Twelve closed ring eyes run this bead's length, divided by vertical bar segments, set against a dark brown ground carrying the same reddish-brown speckling visible without magnification that distinguished the first bead in this series. The form is an elongated barrel, gently tapered toward both ends, with a single drill hole at one tip showing a clean, dark opening.
Macro photography shows a more sparsely scattered cinnabar presentation than its sibling: small red-orange specks distributed through a lighter cream zone, with one more vivid orange cluster catching the eye at the frame's edge. The same macro frame shows a darker brown-black granular mass containing a fine internal line — a natural mineral characteristic of the stone's grain structure, not a crack in the bead itself, and distinct from any condition concern.
We independently checked this bead for cracking across all standard photographs and can confirm none is visible — consistent with the surface holding up cleanly under inspection. No chipping or damage is evident at either end. Surface is glossy and even throughout.
The Twelve Eye Motif
In Tibetan dzi tradition, the Twelve Eye motif carries the same associations as its sibling piece: authority, power, and influence, with the number twelve resonant across Chinese symbolic tradition — the months of the calendar, the ornaments of an emperor's robe, the twelve deeds of Buddha. As the second piece in this growing series, it carries the motif's full weight while standing as its own individual stone.
Bloodspots — Confirmed (Tier 3)
Cinnabar (硃砂, zhūshā — mercuric sulfide) appears here in a notably sparser register than the first Twelve Eye piece in this series. Macro documentation shows small red-orange specks scattered through a lighter cream-toned zone, concentrated less densely than its sibling's dual-zone presentation, with one more saturated orange cluster visible at the frame's edge. The overall dot count reads lower and more restrained — genuinely distinct from piece (1) despite sharing the same motif and ground character.
