We never retouch our photos. What you see is exactly what you will receive.
This bead spreads its five eyes unevenly across two long faces, giving each its own character. One face carries three eyes in a row — cream-white rings with dark centres — held between a continuous wave line running above them and a second below, so the three read as one unified field. The other carries two eyes side by side inside a rectangular cream frame whose top and bottom edges are themselves wavy. Around the bead the faces alternate: eyes, waves, eyes, waves.
The wave faces deserve a look of their own. Three cream lines run across each, their edges scalloped into a continuous wave that leaves two dark channels between them. The crests and troughs vary in height and spacing — rhythmic but irregular, the mark of the maker's hand. From a distance they read as bold banding; up close the waves come alive.
The ground is a deep, warm dark brown, consistent on all four faces. The cream lines are well defined and intact. At both ends the agate turns a slightly cooler, lighter grey-brown. Both drill holes are small and clean. Condition is excellent, with no cracks or chips.
The Five Eye Motif
Five is associated in Tibetan Buddhism with the five Dhyani Buddhas, embodiments of the five aspects of enlightened wisdom, and with the five directions — the four cardinal points and the centre. A Five Eye dzi (五眼天珠) is traditionally understood to bring those five wisdoms together, conferring good fortune and helping to overcome the five poisons of the mind. The wave connectors add the meaning of continuity, a flow of merit and the dissolving of obstacles.
