Before you count the eyes, look at the surface. Across the dark ground, visible even in ordinary photographs, runs a pattern of fine micro-pitting and crazing — the texture that develops on agate over centuries of exposure and handling. It is not damage; it is the bead's own record of time.

Above this aged ground sits the Nine Eye motif in bold cream lines: nine circles joined by stepped horizontal and vertical bars in the classic Tibetan layout. The eyes are slightly oval, and the connecting lines are generously wide, giving the network a confident, unhurried look. The deep near-black ground, with warm brown undertones, gives the cream strong contrast from every angle.

Compared with our Antique Nine Eye Dzi At-011625-9E, which has a warmer, smoother chocolate-brown surface, this bead's micro-pitting is immediately visible on every face. The end caps differ too: this bead has distinctly rounded domes of warm amber-caramel agate, with small centred drill holes in a gentle recess — among the loveliest end caps in our collection, worth a look in the angled photos.
