The cream on this bead is not white.
Look at Image 3 or Image 4 — the full-bead profile shots against white background. The motif lines on most dzi beads read as ivory or cream against the dark ground. On this bead they read as rose-peach. The cinnabar saturation throughout the dark zones of this agate is so complete, so pervasive, that it has migrated into and tinted the cream zones themselves. The stripes are pink. The eye rings carry a warm blush. This is not a photographic effect and it is not retouching — it is what happens when a bead carries an extreme concentration of cinnabar through its entire agate body, not just as surface inclusions but as a material condition of the stone itself.
Images 1 and 2 show what that looks like at macro scale. The dark brown zones are not simply dark brown — they are densely packed with rust-orange and vermilion cinnabar particles, so closely distributed that the brown ground reads as a continuous field of bloodspot material rather than a ground with spots scattered through it. The cream zones in the macro shots carry their own cinnabar dusting — fine orange particles scattered across the white field, consistent with a bead where the cinnabar content is not localised but systemic. This is among the highest cinnabar concentrations visible in any two eye bead in this collection.
The motif itself is fully resolved on both faces. Face A (Images 3 and 5) presents one complete eye — outer ring, cream field, inner ring, dark pupil — positioned right of centre, with vertical stripes to the left forming the compositional frame. Face B (Images 4 and 6) presents the second eye, this one slightly more centred with a more symmetrical ring structure. The two eyes are not identical — same motif, different resolution, each carrying its own character. From the three-quarter angles in Images 5 and 6, both eyes are simultaneously visible from a single viewing position, the bead revealing its full compositional logic in one glance.
The body is a classic torpedo: 41.0mm long, 13.0mm in diameter. Both end caps are dark brown with small, well-centred drill holes. Image 6 shows the opposite end cap with a distinctive pale cream ring around the drill hole — an agate feature visible only at this angle. The surface carries natural weathering marks consistent with a bead estimated to be 100 to 200 years old. No cracks.
The Two Eye Motif carries the meaning of relational harmony across all documented Tibetan dzi tradition — between partners, between colleagues, between households. It is the motif worn where connection between two people is the primary intention, and the most consistently recognised dzi symbol for those seeking alignment rather than amplification.
Among the five two eye beads in this collection, this is the only one where the bloodspot field is not a pattern of inclusions but a condition of the agate — a bead whose entire material identity is shaped by cinnabar.
