This antique Tibetan nine-eye dzi shares its crafting tradition with its companion piece, At-090326-9E, but reads as an altogether lighter bead. The cream zones here are broad and generous, taking up more of the barrel's surface than the dark brown ground that holds them. Each of the nine eyes presents a wide, open pupil enclosed in a broad cream iris ring, and the stepped grid lines connecting the eyes across the barrel are thick and clearly resolved. The overall composition is one of openness and spaciousness — nine eyes reading large and unambiguous against a ground that frames rather than dominates them.
The cream is a cool, settled tone — slightly less warm than the aged tan of the companion piece, reading as a cleaner cream against the deep dark brown body. The ground is the same warm dark brown throughout, consistent from the central body to both drill ends, with no zone shift or colour break. The contrast between the two pieces is instructive: same motif, same crafting tradition, same age range — and a noticeably different visual weight determined entirely by the proportion of cream to ground.
At 54.9mm this is the longer of the two antique nine-eye pieces offered this session, with a slightly wider diameter at 12.6mm. The fusiform profile is well-proportioned, tapering gradually to both ends. The surface carries a smooth, settled patina with a slight sheen visible in certain light — a sign of a well-aged, handled bead. No cracks are present; confirmed independently from photos. The drill end caps hold the same dark brown as the body, the cream of the iris rings sits crisply against them, and the whole bead presents consistently across all five unretouched photos.
