Three eyes — but they don't share a face.

One eye sits alone on Face A, positioned at the centre of an octagonal cream frame — a faceted polygon with notched sides, the frame itself as deliberate and resolved as the eye ring within it. Rotate the bead one hundred and eighty degrees to Face C and two eyes appear: open C-ring forms, unframed, sitting directly in the warm brown ground, each with its own small dark pupil, each opening in a slightly different direction. One plus two equals three. But the single eye and the pair never face each other. They occupy opposite sides of the same stone, each complete on its own face, the count only becoming clear when you have seen both.

The two remaining faces — Face B and Face D — carry no eyes at all. They carry instead an arch or crown motif: two upward-pointing arch forms side by side, connected by horizontal bars below, the cream lines forming a composition that reads as a gateway, a double doorway, or a crown depending on the viewing angle. Face B shows the arches opening upward; Face D, approached from the opposite rotation, reads the same forms as downward-pointing chevrons. Neither face is a transitional element — each is a fully resolved composition in its own right, the arch carrying its own structural meaning alongside the eye faces.

The ground throughout is a deep warm chocolate-brown — the same rich, settled dark brown seen on the honey-gold-end-capped six eye bead At-053026-6E elsewhere in this collection. The cream motif lines are clean and well-resolved across all four faces, the contrast between cream and brown strong and consistent. The end caps are warm honey-tan — the same distinctive caramel-honey agate tone shared with At-053026-6E and the Five Eye bead At-072625-5E, placing this bead in a family of pieces with the same characteristic warm-tipped end cap colour. The honey-tan is visible in Images 5 and 6, distinct from the dark brown body, creating a warm frame at each tip.

At 51.2mm long and 13.0mm in diameter this is a full elongated torpedo — one of the wider beads in the antique collection at this length, the generous diameter giving the octagonal frame on Face A room to be read as an architectural element rather than a simple decorative border. Both drill holes are intact and well-centred within the honey-tan end caps. The surface carries natural weathering marks and minor digs consistent with a bead estimated to be 300 to 500 years old. No cracks. No bloodspots.

The Three Eye Motif is associated in Tibetan dzi tradition with the Three Stars — 福祿壽 (fú lù shòu) — the Chinese and Tibetan emblems of happiness, prosperity, and longevity simultaneously. A bead that addresses all three at once: the good fortune that opens the path, the wealth that sustains the journey, and the long life that allows both to accumulate. It is worn by those for whom all three intentions are active, and gifted to mark the occasions — marriages, milestones, new ventures — where all three are most needed.

This is the only three eye bead currently available in this collection. One bead. One owner.
