Three Eye Dzi Bead Bracelet

One face of this bead holds a single eye. Turn it over and there are two. The three eyes are never on the same face at the same time.

This bracelet follows the same construction format as N-060726-DTT-BR and N-060726-HE-BR — one elongated dzi focal bead, two natural turquoise accents, sixteen pitch-black agate rounds, elastic cord, fits to 17.5cm. Two things set it apart immediately. First, the focal bead: where the Tiger Tooth bracelet centres on a cream-dominant bead and the Heaven & Earth bracelet on a cream-ground oval gate, this bracelet centres on a dark-ground Three Eye dzi — deep warm chocolate-brown with bold sandy-tan parallel stripe bands running the full length of the bead. The ground is the darkness and the stripes are the light, which is the opposite colour logic of the previous two focal beads. Second, the spacers: where N-060726-DTT-BR and N-060726-HE-BR use silver-tone rondelle spacers, this bracelet uses gold-tone rondelles — a warm metallic accent that complements the sandy-tan stripe lines of the dzi and the teal turquoise simultaneously.

The Three Eye motif distributes across two faces in the classic 1+2 split: Image 2 shows Face A — one eye, a rounded oval frame with a cream-tan ring and warm brown centre, sitting centrally within the vertical stripe field. Image 4 shows Face B — two eyes side by side, each with the same cream-tan ring and warm brown centre, separated by the stripe banding. This 1+2 distribution is the same pattern found in the antique loose bead At-053126-3E in the collection, and in the ancient Ac-060121-3EBS — the three eyes are present, but never all visible at once. The bead must be rotated to count them.

The stripe bands on this focal bead are closely spaced, bold, and run parallel to each other along the full length of the elongated barrel. This gives the bead a more linear, structured appearance than either the Tiger Tooth diagonal sweep or the Heaven & Earth oval gate — the Three Eye focal bead is the most architecturally formal of the three focal beads in this bracelet series.

The two turquoise accent beads are medium teal-green with visible natural matrix, positioned symmetrically flanking the dzi, each separated by a gold-tone rondelle spacer. The sixteen black agate rounds are pitch-black, highly polished, and uniformly sized — their depth providing maximum contrast for both the sandy-tan stripe bands of the dzi and the teal of the turquoise. Gold-tone rondelle spacers appear also at intervals through the black agate band, tying the full bracelet into a consistent warm metallic register.

The bracelet fits wrists up to 17.5cm — buyers should measure before purchasing.

The Three Eye (三眼/Sān Yǎn) Motif

The Three Eye dzi — 三眼 (Sān Yǎn) in Chinese — is associated in Tibetan Buddhist tradition with the three eyes of the deity Kubera, the god of wealth, and by extension with the three aspects of time: past, present, and future. Three eyes are understood to confer happiness, success, and longevity simultaneously — a triple blessing in a single bead. The three-eye count also aligns with the Three Jewels of Buddhism: the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. In practical collecting terms, the Three Eye dzi is among the most widely worn and sought-after eye-count beads for daily protection and fortune, its triple symbolism considered complete in a way that single or double eye counts are not.
