Vintage Luk Mik Dzi Bead Ring, 13.7mm bead, pitch-black & blue-grey, adjustable silver-tone band (R-060626-LM)
We never retouch our photos. What you see is exactly what you will receive.
The blue-grey band on this bead is not a line drawn on the surface — it is a band moving through the stone, and that is the entire point.
The 13.7mm Luk Mik dzi at the centre of this ring carries its motif the way all genuine dzi carry theirs: not as decoration applied from outside, but as pattern formed within the agate itself through the traditional alkaline etching process. The ground is pitch-black — confirmed from the white-background photographs. The single pale blue-grey concentric stripe encircles the bead at its equator, unbroken, continuous, reading under the ring's lighting as a cool luminous orbit around a dark centre. This is the heaven eye. It does not announce itself with colour or complexity. It simply holds its position.
The bead is set in a four-claw prong bezel, the claws positioned at the cardinal points so the full equatorial Luk Mik band remains visible from every angle. A complete halo of small round clear white CZ stones in a pavé-style channel surrounds the bezel — bringing the bead into a statement setting without competing with its motif. Viewed directly from above (Image 3), the composition is precise: pitch-black bead at centre, blue-grey orbital stripe, four silver-tone prong tips, CZ halo as outer frame. Every element is concentric. The ring amplifies the bead's own geometry.
The shank is wide and substantial on both sides, carrying bold raised relief engraving in a classical Chinese decorative register — a dragon or phoenix motif with scrolling cloud and flame elements and a circular roundel on each shoulder. The casting is deep and confident, giving the ring presence from the side as much as from above. The underside (Image 6) shows the open-back adjustable split-band construction clearly: a sliding mechanism that allows the ring to be worn comfortably across a wide range of finger sizes without alteration. This is a genuine unisex wearable piece.
This ring is vintage — made to be worn, not stored. The Luk Mik bead is high-quality natural Himalayan agate. The setting is silver-tone metal with CZ stones. It carries the protective symbolism of the Luk Mik motif in the most direct form possible: on the hand, every day.
The Luk Mik (祿命/Lù Mìng) Motif
Luk Mik — 祿命 (Lù Mìng) in Chinese — translates as "life force" or "vitality of fortune." In Tibetan tradition the single concentric band is understood as the eye of heaven: an unbroken orbital line representing clarity of vision, continuity of protection, and alignment with cosmic order. Luk Mik dzi are worn to strengthen the wearer's vitality, shield against illness and misfortune, and enhance personal fortune. Setting the bead in a ring places this protection at the point of action — the hand — where it operates continuously through daily life. Among wearable dzi formats, a ring is among the most intimate and direct.
