The scroll on this bead is not a connector. It is a presence.

On most six eye dzi beads, the element that links paired eyes is a subordinate line — a decorative bridge between the two rings, present but not dominant. On this bead the scroll is equal in visual weight to the eyes themselves. It wraps above and below both C-ring eyes simultaneously, curving generously across the pitch-black ground in a continuous arc that encloses the paired composition from all sides. The two eyes sit within the scroll as much as beside each other. You cannot read the eyes without reading what holds them.

This bead follows the same four-face distribution as the other plain six eye bead in this collection — At-053026-6E — with paired eyes on two opposite faces and a single eye within a diamond frame on the remaining two faces. Two plus one plus two plus one equals six. But where that bead presents on a deep warm chocolate-brown ground with honey-gold end caps and carries both open and closed eye variants, this bead is pitch black throughout. Ground, end caps, the dark zones between every cream line — all the same consistent deep black, with no colour break at the tips and no warmth anywhere in the agate. The cream reads against it as bright white, not ivory. The contrast is maximum.

Face A and Face C each carry two C-ring eyes — open-ring forms, each with a small dark pupil — wrapped by the bold scroll described above. The scroll on Face A opens differently from the scroll on Face C: the same compositional logic, the same generous curves, but the viewing angle shifts the emphasis between the upper arc and the lower arc, giving each paired face its own character within the shared structure. Face B and Face D each carry a single concentric-ring eye within a diamond/star frame — four concave-sided points extending from the central oval, the same architectural single-eye composition seen on At-053026-6E, here rendered in higher contrast against the pitch-black field.

The two end caps are pitch-black agate with small, well-centred drill holes — visible clearly in Images 5 and 6. The body is an elongated torpedo at 41.4mm × 11.4mm — shorter than At-053026-6E's 54.9mm but in the same family of long-form six eye beads. The surface carries natural weathering marks and minor digs consistent with a bead estimated to be 200 to 500 years old. No cracks. No bloodspots.

The Six Eye Motif is associated in Tibetan dzi tradition with improvement of physiological function, release from the cycle of suffering (Samsara), and removal of impending misfortunes — a bead of both bodily protection and spiritual liberation. Against pitch-black agate, the six eyes carry those meanings with particular visual force: the black ground suggesting the depth of Samsara, the cream eyes the clarity watching from within it.
