The centrepiece of this necklace spent at least a thousand years in the ground before it was strung. The seven eyes on it are not arranged evenly — three occupy one face, four the other, a rare asymmetric distribution that collectors refer to as the 3+4 variant and that is encountered far less frequently than the standard seven eye layout. The necklace was composed around that bead, and every other element was chosen in relation to it.

The focal bead is Ac-071026-7E: 54.6×13.3mm, dark brown agate, UV verified, 1,000+ years. Its ground shows a confirmed two-zone character — deep dark brown through the central body, warming to a distinctly richer brown at both end caps. The four eye faces and two wave faces are all intact, the cream motif lines reading cleanly with no chips or cracks. Flanking the focal bead on each side is one bead from At-073026-WPair — the antique wave dzi pair listed separately in the collection, 300 to 500 years old. These two compact barrel beads (17.1×11.0mm and 17.2×10.5mm) carry the same wave motif in two contrasting colour registers: one is a soft peach-cream, pale and luminous; the other is a warm golden-ochre, deeper and more saturated. Together they form a deliberate tonal counterpoint to the dark ground of the focal bead — lighter stones framing a very dark centre.

The remaining beads on the necklace are antique and vintage dzi pieces. The row of short barrel beads along the upper strand are antique or vintage pieces with cream-tan etched patterning on dark grounds — chung-style patterning, no two identical. Two larger oval beads with banded agate character sit further out on each side of the focal grouping. A grey-blue marbled round bead with white swirling pattern sits immediately adjacent to the focal bead. A large dark oval bead with sand-tan natural markings anchors one end of the lower strand. All beads are separated by black onyx rounds throughout. The necklace closes with an adjustable sliding-knot black braided cord — length adjustable to fit a range of wearing lengths.

This necklace is sold as a complete assembled piece. The focal bead (Ac-071026-7E) and the antique wave pair (At-073026-WPair) are individual listings in the collection and will be removed from sale once this necklace sells. All other beads are unlisted antique and vintage pieces and are included as part of this assembled work.

The Seven Eye Motif

The seven eye dzi (七眼天珠) is among the most revered counts in the Tibetan dzi tradition. Seven corresponds in Tibetan Buddhist cosmology to the seven factors of awakening (七覺支) — mindfulness, investigation, energy, joy, tranquillity, concentration, and equanimity. A seven eye bead is traditionally understood to eliminate obstacles, invite fortune, and align the wearer with these seven qualities of awakening. The rare 3+4 asymmetric variant is considered by collectors and practitioners to represent a distinct expression of the motif — the count completing only when both faces are held in mind.
