Ancient Two Diamond Eye Dzi Bead with Bloodspots — (Anc-0426-2DE)

The diamond eye is not the same as the round eye. Where the classic dzi eye is a circle — soft, orbital, expansive — the diamond eye is angular, pointed at its corners, tightly drawn. It carries a different visual energy: focused, precise, directional. This bead carries two of them, one on each face, and both are filled with something rarer still.
Look at the macro photographs. Inside each white diamond field, cinnabar bloodspots are concentrated. At the centre of the diamond they gather densely, forming a dark brown mass that sits within the white like a second shape nested inside the first. Scattered across the white stripe zones of the entire body, hundreds of individual red-orange bloodspot dots are visible — too small to see clearly with the naked eye, unmistakable under magnification. This is not surface staining. These are natural cinnabar inclusions within the agate itself. Genuine bloodspots cannot be added to a bead after it is made, and a concentration like this is rare.
This is an ancient dzi bead estimated at 1,500 to 2,000 years old, and it belongs equally in the bloodspot dzi collection — a category defined precisely by this kind of deep, natural cinnabar inclusions within the stone. The black ground zones across the body show dense micro-crystalline surface crackle: the agate surface has broken down into a fine mosaic of micro-pitting that is the hallmark of extreme age. The drill holes at both ends are fully intact, their interiors darkened and aged. The end face shown in Image 10 reveals the bead tip in macro — a smooth rounded cap, matte with age, scattered with cinnabar dots, the drill hole centred and clean.
The form of this bead is compact and rounded — shorter and broader than many ancient dzi, with a satisfying weight in the hand. The ridge line runs along one face. The stripe pattern creates a complex layered composition on the reverse: angular lines cutting across the body in a way that, under macro, looks almost architectural. The two diamond eyes sit on opposite faces, giving the bead a bilateral symmetry that makes it equally compelling from either side.
If you are building a collection around protective and auspicious dzi, the two diamond eye is traditionally associated with clarity, decisiveness, and the accumulation of wisdom. Paired with the bloodspot presence documented here, this is a piece that collectors in Tibetan, Chinese, and Southeast Asian traditions would recognise as exceptional. You may also want to compare it with the Antique Three Diamond Eye & Tiger Tooth Dzi with Bloodspots — At-053126-3DETT, another diamond-eye bead where cinnabar bloodspots are the defining feature, or the Ancient One Eye & Mountain Motif Dzi with Bloodspots — Anc-0426-1EMt, a rare dual-motif piece from the same bloodspot collection.
Every surface detail of this bead — the bloodspot dots, the crackle pitting, the diamond eye centres, the aged drill holes — is photographed and visible in the images before you. There is nothing hidden and nothing enhanced.
