Ancient Two Eye Dzi Bead, 45.4×13.8×12.0mm, oval cross-section, deep charcoal grey-brown agate (Ac-071026-TWE3)
We never retouch our photos. What you see is exactly what you will receive.
The two eyes on this bead don't share the same form. On one face the eye is a C-shape — a bold cream arc that opens rather than closes, framing a zone of the deep charcoal grey-brown ground rather than enclosing it fully. On the opposite face the eye is a complete spiral ring, fully closed, reading as a conventional concentric form. The two eyes are recognisably the same motif — same scale, same confident etching — and yet they read differently at every rotation. The connecting faces carry the lines between them: flowing cream curves tracking across the body as the composition moves from one eye to the other.
The bead has an oval rather than circular cross-section, visible in both the angled end-view photographs and the flatter face shot. At 45.4mm long, 13.8mm at its widest and 12.0mm at its shallowest, the profile is slightly compressed on one axis — not dramatically, but enough that the flat face produces a visibly different reading of the cream motif lines than the rounder faces do. On the flatter face the lines spread across a wider, lower surface and the contrast with the ground softens slightly; on the rounder faces the cream lines curve over a higher arc and read with more visual punch.
The ground colour confirmed from all four white-background lateral shots is a deep charcoal grey-brown — a cool, slightly greyed dark brown that sits between warm brown and true grey without fully committing to either. The cream motif lines are bold against it throughout. The etching is crisp and well-preserved, with no erosion of the line edges.
Both drill holes are small and clean, visible in the angled end photographs. The end caps carry the same charcoal grey-brown as the body, with no dramatic colour shift at the tips. No cracks are present. The surface shows age-consistent weathering marks, fine and even, without any structural compromise.

The Two Eye Motif
The two eye dzi (二眼天珠) is one of the most foundational motifs in the Tibetan dzi tradition, associated in Tibetan belief with harmony between the inner and outer worlds — harmony at home, harmony at work, and the balance between one's personal life and one's broader engagement with the world. Two eyes on a single bead are understood to carry the energy of the Buddha of Compassion and Medicine, supporting both relationships and wellbeing. A two eye bead is considered suitable for almost any wearer and almost any occasion, making it one of the most consistently revered pieces across the full spectrum of dzi collecting traditions.
