We never retouch our photos. What you see is exactly what you will receive.

On this bead the motif lines are not cream or white — they are a warm honey-golden-orange, and against a deep near-black ground they glow.

Every two-eye dzi in this collection uses cream or white for its motif lines. This is the only one that does not. The stripes and eye rings on this bead are a warm honey-golden-orange — a tone that sits between gold and terracotta, clearly visible against the deep near-black agate ground as a warm, luminous colour rather than a pale one. It is the defining feature of the bead and the first thing you notice in every photograph.

Face A (Image 3) presents one eye with a slightly layered quality — the ring is honey-golden-orange with a pale inner zone and a dark oval centre, giving the eye a sense of depth visible in the photography. Multiple golden-orange stripe bands run parallel above and below, crisp and well-spaced. Face B (Image 4) shows an open C-ring eye — the same warm honey-golden tone, the ring open on one side rather than fully closed. The two eyes differ in form: one more closed on Face A, one open on Face B. The bead must be turned to see both. The stripe dividers on both faces are bold and well-defined, and the surface is highly polished and glassy across the full body length.

At 49.1mm × 11.8mm this is one of the longer two-eye beads in the collection and among the most slender at this length — a clean elongated spindle confirmed in the three-quarter views (Images 5 and 6). The end caps are warm russet-brown to terracotta-brown, with a vivid orange-red drill hole interior visible in both images — a warm, saturated end cap tone that picks up the golden warmth of the motif lines.

The microscope image (Image 2) captures two distinct cinnabar (硃砂, zhūshā) types simultaneously in one field of view. In the upper portion of the white zone: a dense pooled mass of warm rust-brown to dark orange-brown cinnabar — a concentrated accumulation where the mercuric sulfide has gathered in a broad patch. Below it: a scattered constellation of individual rust-orange to golden-orange pinpoint dots distributed across the open white zone. Both types — pooled mass and isolated dots — are confirmed in a single image. The cinnabar is embedded within the agate matrix, inseparable from the stone, predating the etching. The original listing notes the natural stone patina as very beautiful, and the microscope confirms why: the cinnabar character on this bead is complex and genuinely rare.

Compared to the other bloodspot two-eye in the collection, At-092724-2EBS (41.0mm, warm dark-brown ground, rose-peach tinted cream lines, pervasive saturation cinnabar) — this bead differs on every measurable dimension: ground colour, motif line colour, cinnabar distribution type, and length. The honey-golden motif line colour also appears in At-012325-4E, the four-eye bead, but no other two-eye bead in the collection shares it.

The Two Eye Motif

The Two Eye dzi (二眼天珠, èr yǎn tiānzhū) is one of the most widely worn motifs in the Tibetan amulet tradition. It is associated with harmony in close relationships — between partners, between family members, between colleagues — and with the balance of giving and receiving that sustains those bonds over time. The original listing describes it as the favourite motif of office managers, prized for enabling harmony between co-workers as much as between husband and wife.
